Keeping first what matters most

Mission:   To  promote wholesome family relationships and reduce alienation and abuse.

History:

·         1982: Founded by Kay and Jan W. Kuzma in California as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit religious organization (ID # is: 95-3842299) called Parent Scene with a weekly national radio program, the publication of books, and the presentation of seminars.

·         1985: Radio program expanded to a daily feature.

·         1987: TV and video series produced.

·         1989: Parent Scene became Family Matters with a mission to address a broader spectrum of family concerns. Started Take Heart Retreats for sexually abused women.

·         1990: Started the syndicated newspaper columns: Family Matters with Dr. Kay Kuzma and Dr. Kay’s Q&A in the San Bernardino, California Sun Telegram.

 ·         1991: Moved ministry to Cleveland, Tennessee. Established the Welcome Baby Program for parents of newborns. Started Family Times, a quarterly publication for families. Expanded seminars.

  ·         1992: New weekly TV series, Family Matters with Dr. Kay Kuzma and Dick Duerksen.

  ·         1993: Radio expansion with the new 60 second feature,  Got A Minute for Your Family?

  ·         1999: Kay and Jan W. Kuzma launch Family Matters Ministry for mission outreach and family retreats.

  ·         2000: Family Matters moved to LaFollette, Tennessee.

  ·         2002: Currently developing a parenting video seminar and new TV programming based on Dr. Kay Kuzma's book, The First 7 Years: Parenting with Strong Values and a Gentle Touch.

 

Family Matters is a “faith” ministry proceeding with careful planning as funds are made available, primarily through the support of dedicated individuals who deeply care about the family.
